Britský snímek Pride se zakládá na skutečném příběhu a zachycuje skupinu aktivistů LGBT, kteří vybírali peníze na pomoc rodinám postiženým stávkou horníků ve Velké Británii. Jenže se píše rok 1984. Lesby a gayové jsou širokou veřejností (nejen britskou) vnímáni negativně. Národní svaz horníků se zdráhá přijmout podporu skupiny LGBT s ohledem na obavy z veřejného mínění o tom, že je tento hornický svaz otevřeně spojen s gay hnutím. A tak se aktivisté rozhodnou svůj finanční příspěvek přivézt přímo do malé hornické vesnice ve Walesu. Jádro této hořké komedie spočívá v konfrontaci homosexuálů s puritánskou vesnickou komunitou, přímo tváří v tvář na otevřené besedě mezi oběma světy.
