Když Charlie potkal Daphne, netušil, že bude muset o její srdce soupeřit se psem. Daphne má totiž psa jménem Panenka. Jenže Charlie všechny psy z duše nenávidí. Před Daphne však předstírá, že Panenku zbožňuje. Ve skutečnosti se mu zvedá žaludek z toho, jak pořád někoho olizuje. Kdo by chtěl políbit holku, která je oslintaná od psa? Když už to vypadá, že Charlie bitvu prohraje a pes bere vše, stane se něco neočekávaného. Aniž by si to Charlie uvědomil, oblíbil si Panenku tak, že se chová stejně pomateně jako všichni milovníci psů. Kupuje jí dárky, nadšeně běhá po parku, znovu a znovu jí hází míček, i když je to už asi po miliónté. Daphne se cítí odstrčená a Charliemu dá hodně práce, aby ji přesvědčil, že ji opravdu miluje.
