Pokračování přímo navazuje na první díl. Sean Lau (Aaron Kwok) nyní zastává úřad policejního komisaře, M.B. Lee (Tony Leung Ka-fai) požádal o odchod do důchodu, jeho syn Joe (Eddie Peng) sedí ve vězení a ukradená dodávka se stále nenašla. Po pohřbu zavražděných policistů během operace "Studená válka" se ovšem Lauovi znovu ozvou únosci, že mají jeho ženu a požadují za ni propuštění Joea. Lau se jim rozhodne vyhovět, Joe mu ovšem uteče a jeho útěk spustí lavinu událostí, kdy Lau bude muset opět využít svého důvtipu, aby nepřišel o místo a zjistil, kdo za vším stojí.
