Řetězová zpráva vypráví příběh skupiny středoškoláků, kteří všichni obdrží stejný dopis s varováním, že pokud ho nepošlou dál, zemřou. Zpočátku většina z nich varování ignoruje, dokud dva z nich – Johnny a Dante, kteří dopis nepřeposlali, zemřou hroznou smrtí.
