Obyvatelé města jsou utlačováni vedoucím rodem Lao v čele s nejstarším Meng Er Dou.(Ku Feng). Civilisté se seskupují a jsou ochotni se bránit. Na jejich straně je i rivalský klan Chao. Laovci cítí, že jejich kung-fu přestává stačit stále se zlepšujícím soupeřům a tak k sobě díky vychytralému plánu dostávají slavného mistra Wonga (Ti Lung), jež ovládá umění tyče. Wong brzy potkává chudého měšťana (Wong Yu), který touží najít učitele a postupně zjišťuje jak se věci mají.
