Ein Gangsterliebchen bringt auf seiner Flucht vor der Polizei Unruhe in eine "jungfräuliche" Gemeinschaft von Wissenschaftlern. Professor Hobart Frisbee, ein naiver Musiklehrer, studiert zusammen mit sechs anderen Musikern ein merkwürdiges neues Phänomen, das als Jazz bekannt werden sollte. Bei seinen Recherchen trifft er auf die Gangsterbraut Honey Swanson, eine schöne Nachtclub-Entertainerin mit grobem Mundwerk, die beschlossen hat, dass das Haus, in dem die sieben Lehrer leben, sich gut als Versteck eignen würde. Während die Polizei ihr auf den Fersen ist, um durch sie an ihren Freund heranzukommen, schließt sie sich Frisbee und seiner Gang an – und ist genau das, wonach die Musiker gesucht haben. Bis ihr Freund die Jazz-Party abrupt beendet.
