Als Maggie Harwood, Tochter eines Weinexperten, 180 Jahre später eine Riesenflasche 1811er entdeckt, ist ihr klar, dass sie Schutz in Person des amerikanischen Abenteurers Oliver braucht, um den edlen Tropfen auch nur sicher bis zur nächsten Auktion zu schaffen, denn mit der Flasche kommen mindestens eine Million Dollar unter den Hammer. Als Philippe von Maggies Schatz erfährt, fängt er natürlich Feuer, zumal er auf der Flasche Fragmente der Formel vermutet. Und er schreckt vor nichts zurück, um in den Besitz des edlen Tropfens zu gelangen.
