"El Retorno del Dragón" nos presenta las aventuras de Britt Reid, el dueño-editor de un famoso periódico, que por las noches se convierte en el Avispón Verde, un justiciero enmascarado al cual todos ven como un ladrón sin escrúpulos. Su identidad secreta la mantiene protegida del mundo, aunque Kato, su fiel y habilidoso chofer, conoce el secreto, siendo además el segundo héroe de la ciudad. Ikano Kato, un maestro de artes marciales, fue rescatado por Reid cuando estaba a punto de ahogarse en el mar. Tras este incidente, el luchador asiático decidió unirse a Reid con el objetivo de luchar contra el crimen, para lo cual diseñaron instrumentos de alta tecnología, además de unas máscaras que les ayudarían a pasar desapercibidos.
