George Hacker, archéologue américain, découvre une tombe ancestrale lors de fouilles en Egypte. L'exploration sera catastrophique puisque le guide qui l'accompagne est tué par un piège tandis que lui-même reçoit une dose singulière de rayons bleus qui le rendent alors aveugle. Dans le même temps, la Suzie, la fille du professeur se voit remettre un mystérieux médaillon par une femme mystérieuse, également aveugle. La famille est donc contrainte de retourner à New York. Mais l'archéologue alors handicapé, tente malgré tout d'exploiter ses étranges découvertes tandis que le comportement de Suzie et de son frère Tommy deviennent de plus en plus troublantes...
