Dans cette comédie musicale, une jeune chanteuse devient si désespérée d'apparaître à Broadway qu'elle se rend chez un éminent producteur et lui dit qu'elle est la fille issue de son mariage d'une journée avec une jeune femme qu'il a connue il y a des années. Le producteur est ravi et met bientôt sa fille en scène. Les ennuis commencent lorsque la "mère" de la fille passe soudainement un appel. Pour ses propres raisons, la femme décide de jouer avec la ruse de la fille. Heureusement, à la fin de l'histoire, la vérité est révélée, toutes les différences sont réconciliées et le bonheur s'ensuit.
