À Las Vegas, Homère, le fidèle toutou de Connie, une danseuse de revue, mène la grande vie. Il passe son temps à jouer pour gagner des os, épate les filles de la gent canine et adore se faire chouchouter par sa maîtresse. Ce bonheur est interrompu par l'arrivée de Rocky, le fiancé très jaloux de la jeune femme. Celui-ci tente par tous les moyens de se débarrasser du chien. Lorsque Connie doit s'absenter quelques jours, Homère est confié à Rocky, qui l'abandonne aussitôt. Après plusieurs jours d'errance, Homère est recueilli par une famille de fermiers. Pas du tout habitué à la campagne, il a beaucoup de mal à s'adapter. Serait-ce la fin de la belle vie ?
