Kai, ex-champion du monde de lutte libre (kumite), a trouvé en Ryn, qu'il entraîne pour les éliminatoires, un successeur digne de lui. Le jour de la sélection, Ryn accumule les victoires jusqu'au moment où il se retrouve devant Chang Lee, le plus redouté de tous les lutteurs. A la fin du combat, Chang brise la nuque de Ryn et le tue. Kai cherche à oublier ce drame dans la boisson mais l'amie de Ryn lui demande de venger sa mort en battant Chang Lee une fois pour toutes.
