Western comique classique, le capitaine Oren Hayes des Texas Rangers fait une pause pour rendre visite à sa fille dans une ville voisine. Quand il arrive, il découvre que le mari de sa fille Hannah, Jeff, se présente à la mairie contre un chef corrompu de la ville, Nard Lundy. Lundy n'a pas l'intention de permettre l'élection libre de l'honnête Jeff Rose, alors il fait battre ses hommes de main. Hayes demande alors l'aide de certains de ses vieux copains dans les Rangers. En arrivant en ville, ils réalisent rapidement que l'âge les a rattrapés et ils doivent compter sur leur intelligence pour surpasser et vaincre Lundy.
