La troupe di una piccola emittente locale composta dalla reporter Jesse St. Claire, dalla supervisor Jane Berger e dal cameraman Rob Latrobe inizia ad investigare sulla sparizione di una giovane spogliarellista. Durante l’indagine arriva in redazione una videocassetta dove si vede la donna ripresa a sua insaputa e l’uccisione di un’altra donna. Lo sceriffo si mostra poco interessato a questa prova, sicuro di aver già arrestato l’assassino della donna. Per i giornalisti, invece, questo potrebbe essere lo scoop che farà decollare le loro carriere. Fino al giorno in cui in redazione non arriva un’altra videocassetta dove a essere pedinata è proprio Jesse. Spaventata, la report abbandona la città e fugge lontano.
