Nel 1998, Eric, Windows, Hutch e Zoe sono un gruppo di amici che condividono, come molti altri, la passione per la fantascienza e in particolare per la saga di Guerre Stellari. Mancano ormai pochi mesi all'uscita nelle sale del celebre Episodio I, e la loro attesa è spasmodica, nonostante siano già ormai cresciutelli. Quando però si accorgono che il loro amico Linus, che si era da un po' allontano dal gruppo, è malato terminale di cancro e non potrà molto probabilmente arrivare vivo alla data di uscita del film, prendono una decisione folle. Assaltare lo "Skywlaker Ranch' di Gorge Lucas e rubare la copia di lavorazione del film che vi è custodita per poterlo proiettare per il loro amico prima che la malattia abbia la meglio. Inizia così un viaggio più che avventuroso verso "il fortino" del grande regista.
