Sogni oscuri e visioni ad occhi aperti di un bambina scomparsa, un frutteto di alberi di mele e una cittadina sommersa molti anni prima cominciano a lacerare la tranquilla esistenza di Claire Cooper, che vive nel New England con il marito Paul, pilota d'aereo.
