Egito, 1895. Três arqueologistas britânicos, John Banning (Peter Cushing), Stephen Banning (Felix Aylmer) e Joseph Whemple (Raymond Hutley), descobrem o túmulo de uma princesa egípcia, Ananka (Yvonne Furneaux), que morreu há quatro mil anos.
