Scott Cooper (born April 20, 1970) is an American writer-director and former actor. His directorial career began with the award-winning Crazy Heart (2009), starring Jeff Bridges. He has gone on to write and direct such films as Out of the Furnace (2013) and Hostiles (2017), both starring Christian Bale, and Black Mass (2015), starring Johnny Depp.
