Der kleine Reggie hat in Tony und Lynette Parks neue Eltern gefunden. Als Lynette eines Abends allerdings tödlich mit ihrem Auto verunglückt, zieht das Jugendamt seine Zustimmung über die Adoption zurück, da Tony als umherziehender Musiker keine wirkliche Standfestigkeit für die Adoption eines Kindes bieten kann, zumindest aus der Sicht der Amtsleiterin Esther Clayton. Doch Tony gibt seinen Kampf um Reggie nicht auf und auch Reggie bemüht sich, in dem er einen Brief an den Weihnachtsmann verfasst. Kann das kalte Herz der Esther Clayton doch noch aufgetaut werden…?
