《白頭神探》應該可以算是“諷刺電影”的始祖，導演三人組大衛儒克、傑瑞儒克兄弟以及吉姆亞伯拉罕在八○年代就創作過家喻戶曉的爆笑電視影集，拍此片之前也拍過類似風格的Airplane!作為試探身手之作，後來把原來電視影集的諷刺精神發揚光大，就是這部原名《恐懼的滋味》的《白頭神探》。
