Elle décide de partir à Paris pour trouver un nouveau travail. Elle va trouver un stage pour devenir femme de ménage. Assez rapidement, elle se fait engager chez un homme qui vit dans un univers radicalement différent du sien. Cet homme, Steve est un trader qui a réussi, il travaille entre la City de Londres et le quartier de la Défense à Paris. Les deux individus vont se côtoyer. Cette ouvrière va découvrir les gens qui vivent dans le luxe. Elle va finir par découvrir que cet homme, fort séduisant et sympathique, est en partie responsable de la faillite de son ancienne entreprise.

Weil ihr Betrieb aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen schließen musste, steht France nach 20 Jahren treuen Diensten nun ohne Job da. Um wieder Einstieg ins Berufsleben zu finden, verlässt die Familienmutter das kleine französische Hafenstädtchen Dünkirchen und begibt sich nach Paris. Dort findet sie eine Anstellung als Putzfrau beim smarten Börsenspezialisten Steve. Schnell findet der Geschäftsmann Gefallen an seiner neuen Service-Kraft. Eine Einladung zu einem Dinner endet in einer leidenschaftlichen Nacht. Doch dann stellt sich heraus, dass Steve an der Schließung von Frances Fabrik beteiligt war. Als selbiger dann auch noch damit rumprahlt, die "Putze flachgelegt" zu haben, sieht die selbstbewusste Frau Rot und rächt sich auf ihre ganz eigene Weise.

Ponieważ nie ma większych szans na znalezienie posady w prowincjonalnym mieście, decyduje się zostawić dzieci pod opieką swojej siostry Josy (Audrey Lamy) i wyjeżdża do Paryża. W stolicy przechodzi przyspieszony kurs na pomoc domową i znajduje zatrudnienie u bezwzględnego rekina giełdowego, Steve'a Delarue'a (Gilles Lellouche). Nowy pracodawca, którego finansowe machinacje bezpośrednio doprowadziły do likwidacji fabryki i zwolnienia France, z początku nie zwraca na kobietę większej uwagi.
